Members of all curricular ensembles (MS Band, MS Chorus, HS Band, HS Chorus) are expected to reflect on our 12/5 concert performance and turn in the written reflection. This work should be completed in-class. For those absent on reflection days, the criterion for reflection are as follows:
#s 1 - 3: List three positives for each piece performed. #s 4 - 6: List three areas for improvement in each piece. #7: Highlight at least one positive aspect of each performing group of which you were not a part of. #8: What do we need to do as a group to better perform on future concerts. Students are expected to write in complete sentences and use musical terminology whenever possible (i.e. references to measure numbers, dynamics, articulations/diction, etc.). All journals must be completed NO LATER THAN Monday, December 17, 2012. Mr. Schweizer will be at the MHS for conferences both tonight and tomorrow. If you would like to meet with me during this time, come see me in the MHS gym tonight, or in my classroom in that building tomorrow. I would love to see some parents and/or students in this time!
All Middle and Senior high band students are to write in measure numbers for every piece they currently have.
Assignment is due Tuesday, October 23, and will be checked for completion. Worth 5 points Only possible scores are: 5 - Complete or 0 - Incomplete No middle ground. CONGRATULATIONS to the following students selected to perform with the 2012 Illinois Music Educators Association All-District Festival ensembles on November 3, 2012, at Western Illinois University!

Congratulations again! Just a friendly reminder that ALL MHS Bands and Choirs students are to complete a minimum of ONE one-on-one lesson with Mr. Schweizer before the end of the quarter. This is a 25pt assignment and may be completed before school, during Advisory (HS only) or after school.
HERE is a link (AGAIN) to the Junior High IMEA All-District CHORUS audition pieces. Practice these with your music. Suggested order to really learn the music is to:
1. Listen to each piece a couple times without singing. 2. Hum part softly along with track a couple times. 3. Quietly sing along on a neutral syllable like "la" or "do". 4. Quietly sing along on the song's text. 5. Sing along at marked volume, using dynamics and expression. This is a VERY helpful tool, Middle School students! If you don't use it, you can only blame yourself if you don't make the District Chorus! You have until TOMORROW MORNING to turn in IMEA All-District Audition Permission Forms! If it's not to me by 10:am, you're not going to audition!
ALL MHS BANDS members need to have ALL their uniform parts TOMORROW! This means:
- Black pants - NOT skin tight - NOT sweat pants - 100% BLACK - Black shoes - As long as they're minimum 95% black and they're not falling apart, you're set! - Red, black, OR white shirt to go under uniforms - BLACK SOCKS! - Longer is better. No "no-show" socks, must cover ankles - $2 for black gloves to go with uniforms We will be fitting coats, gauntlets and hats first thing, so it is very important we can see how everyone will look in their uniforms and be all set and ready for the parade this Friday!
